Audio Description: Flash Back: the 70’s & 80’s

21 March 2016 at 11.00–12.30

Paul Neagu, Great Tactile Table 1970. Tate. © Estate of Paul Neagu.

The 70s and 80s saw radical changes in political and social structures in Britain – and artists were there to both reflect and challenge those changes.  Some thirty to forty years later, this tour will question how artists used the presence, or absence, of the human body to comment on wider social issues of the time.

This tour is led by Artemis Stamatiadis and Annie Bedford. The talk will take place seated in the gallery with trained picture describers giving a detailed and fascinating description of the works. Sighted companions and guide dogs are welcome.
