Bleaker and Wilson - RadioCity

Visit the Learning Gallery to contribute to the making of a film – Deskwork, by fictional artist Dennis Isou. Build an understanding of the character of Isou through the artists in residence, who reflect his persona in the space through their gestures and actions, while constructing his abandoned studio.

View film excerpts, contribute to the soundtrack of Isou’s new film and alter the course of his work through your contribution.

Over the course of the residency Mark Bleakley and Josh Wilson will be focusing their activity on different aspects of their in-progress film: Deskwork.

Schedule

Monday 5 January
Sound and Image: Experimenting with the layers of sound and image, using their archive of sound and footage in the space.

Tuesday 6 January
Visual Experiments: New footage will be created in the space using details of Dennis Isou’s Studio and participation from the visitors.

Wedsday 7 January
Dennis’ Voice: The visitors are invited to contribute their voices towards the film soundtrack, developing the layers of abstracted voice-recordings that allude to the protagonist Dennis Isou.

Thursday 8 January
Rhythm: Exploration on the possibilities of visual, sonic and linguistic rhythm within the narrative of the film.

Friday  9 January
Showcase: The artists will present the film-installation of Deskwork (first edit) that has been developed during the week in the afternoon.

Mark Bleakley and Josh Wilson

Mark Bleakley and Josh Wilson are artists who collaborate through a fictional character named Dennis Isou. Isou uses text, film and performance to create stories. He’s interested in the engagement of visitors with his work, and the impact of the moving image on their behaviour.
