The occasion of this loan exhibition was the presentation to the Gallery by the Alfred Stevens Memorial Committee of a reproduction of the Dorchester House Chimney piece and of a bust of Stevens modelled by Professor Lautéri.
It was the desire of Professor Legros that a monument to Stevens had to find a place in the Gallery; the Memorial Committee was formed under his presidency and raised the funds necessary to add the reproduction of the chimney piece to the memorial bust.
