Curator's tour: Richard Tuttle: I Don’t Know . The Weave of Textile Language

9 March 2015 at 18.30–20.00
Richard Tuttle I Don’t Know . The Weave of Textile Language 2014

Join curator Achim Borchardt-Hume, Head of Exhibitions at É«¿Ø´«Ã½, for an hour-long tour of Richard Tuttle’s Turbine Hall commission I Don’t Know . The Weave of Textile Language. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about this newly commissioned sculpture which combines vast swathes of fabrics designed by the artist from both man-made and natural fibres in three bold and brilliant colours.

Richard Tuttle came to prominence in the 1960s as part of a generation of post-minimalist artists and is known for his delicate, small scale works and use of everyday, ephemeral materials. His work has often been described as being in a state of ‘in between’, moving between sculpture, painting, poetry and drawing, avoiding categorisation.

This event coincides with the Richard Tuttle: The Weave of Textile Language exhibition at Whitechapel Gallery last autumn, as well as his commission in É«¿Ø´«Ã½â€™s Turbine Hall on display until 6 April 2015.
