This is the second screening in the D贸ra Maurer and the B茅la Bal谩zs Studio film series. It surveys the ways that artists working in and around Budapest鈥檚 former B茅la Bal谩zs Studio (BBS) integrated film into their wider artistic practice. It includes works by artists 脕kos Birk谩s, Tibor Hajas, D贸ra Maurer, 脕gnes H谩y and P茅ter Leg茅ndy.
These artists formed part of the neo-avant-garde scene that emerged in Hungary in the mid-1960s. This programme considers the ways in which they expanded the key ideas and methods in their practice through filmmaking.
