In response to the display at Tate St Ives, gallery curators and invited contributors examine the interaction between Alfred Wallis, Ben Nicholson, Christopher Wood and Winifred Nicholson and reveal new perspectives on the myth and the reality surrounding the ‘discovery’ of Alfred Wallis.

Confirmed Speakers:

Sara Matson Curator Tate St Ives

Mike Tooby, first Curator/Director Tate St Ives now Professor of Art and Public Practice, Bath College of Art and Design

Jan Cox, Researcher with University of Leeds and Wood scholar. He was awarded a Phd from University of Bristol: Christopher Wood's Work and Critical Reception

Rachel Rose-Smith, AHRC collaborative post doctoral award student with Tate and University of York with a focus on St Ives artists.

Nathaniel Hepburn, Curator currently developing an exhibition on the influence of Cedric Morris on Christopher Wood from the early 1920s in Paris to his death (the tour starts at Norwich Castle in October and will reach Falmouth Art Gallery next summer).
